Flesh and Bone

There's a new show on the Starz channel called Flesh and Bone. I've started watching it and I am hooked. It's about 21 year old Claire Robbins who runs away from her sexually abusive brother to join the American Ballet Company in New York.
She obviously has a tragic backstory because of her brother. She is portrayed as timid and shy because she has a secret to hide which gets annoying at times but it comes across in her dancing as passionate.

I'm not going to summarize each episode but I do recommend everyone to check it out. Disclaimer, it is really dark and emotionally scarring so if you're sensitive to things, maybe skip this show. (After each episode I do need to get up and hug my dog or look at cute animals online. It is really dark.)

Female nudity involved (and one instance of male nudity so far). Also rape/sexual abuse.

Why I Stopped Reading

If you ask me now, I would say that I am currently reading Sherlock Holmes volume 1. (I accidentally bought, then read, volume 2 first.) But in reality, I haven't picked it up in forever.
The reason is...I am currently on the chapter called "The Final Problem" at the part where Sherlock and Watson are hiding from Moriarty by travelling all over Europe. I already know what's going to happen and it depresses me to think about it so I haven't been able to finish the story.
The other issue is, I just can't start a new book if I'm not able to finish my current one. Which means I've basically been stuck in reading limbo for over a year now.
There's so much of the book left to read but I just can't. :'(

Point of Honor - Pilot

Point of Honor

I am currently watching the Amazon pilot episode of Point of Honor and I have conflicting opinions about it. I feel like it's basically Gone With the Wind but with bad accents and less accurate outfits. It is a period drama based in Virginia at the beginning of the Civil War.

Location: Point of Honor in Virginia, owned by the Rhodes family.
Sisters: Kate - main sister who is in charge of the place and makes all the decisions. Lorelai - the only blond sister, married to a "Yankee" (Robert) who is fighting for the North, and a constant worrier.  Estella - the youngest sister, free and young, a bit "loose" for a lady, and the fun one.
All three sisters were taught to shoot and defend themselves by their father and they put it to use in the episode.
There are also two brothers, one is John, the other is a drunkard (apparently.)

Opinion: I love period dramas, especially ones with great costumes. This fell short of that. Costumes didn't look like they were from the right time, the colors seemed off. The accents (not that I can do better) were less than convincing. And the pilot didn't really show enough for us to want to know more about the characters. Sure it is another point of view to shoot this from, but the pilot episode should show enough to keep people wanting more.

Spoilers:

John leaves the army to free the slaves on his land but still fight for the South.
Robert leads the army to Virginia to stop the war before it begins. (But also to see his wife?)
Drunk brother sees some men from the army in the woods and has time to warn his family.
Rhodes men and some others from the town go to the army base to confront them.
The father is shot (not by Robert) and Robert rides away with the rest of the army.

With all that said, I would watch more just to see how they run with it.

Glee Season 6 Ep 3 - Jagged Little Tapestry

Glee Season 6 Episode 3 - Jagged Little Tapestry

I apologize in advance but I have cut out a bunch of Becky’s storyline from this summary because I find her character very rude and not to my taste. (That and she’s so mean to Quinn)
Kurt is in the sheet music store looking for songs from Smash (tv show, I loved it!)

Blaine shows up on the other side of the aisle looking for the same thing. Dave is also there. Awkward.

They sing (song: It’s Too Late). This song actually means a lot to my family and me because of how much my dad sings it. Our whole family uses this song in situations when a person wants something after the fact “it’s too late baby, now it’s too late.”

Klaine scenes in their Dalton blazers. Regretful glances. They go to their respective pianos and look at pictures of the two of them together. Basically what the whole Klaine fandom has on their tumblrs.

Opening title sequence

Kurt suggests mash-up week. Me: already?

Kurt + Rachel don’t get along because they’re just Alphas.

Offensive things said to Quinn and Tina via Becky’s mouth.

Santana + Brittany scissor and have lesbian talk about their future. They confess their love. And they duet. (Song: Hand in My Pocket/I Feel the Earth Move.) Santana’s voice isn’t sexy Latina anymore, she basically sounds like Brittney’s singing voice. Santana proposes to Britt.Lots of jaw drops in the choir room. Rodrick: Wait…what is happening? Puck: This kind of thing happens all the time, just go with it.
Kurt has an outburst. Santana gets fiery. She makes fun of his dance moves and lists a million reasons Blaine and Kurt didn’t work out. Britt and Kurt have a bonding moment. But then she tells him that Blaine is moving in with Dave. More bonding moments.

Issues/argument about Becky’s new bf and having intercourse with someone who has Down Syndrome.

Jane and guy twin Mason duet. Kurt has Klaine flashbacks to when they first met and were running down the Dalton hallway, their first kiss, and when Parvoti died. He also sees when he refused to have sex in the back seat with Blaine, and when Blaine proposed. Tears.  (Song: Will You Love Me Tomorrow/Head Over Feet.)

Sue confronts Coach Beiste and finds out she has cancer. Sue is on her side.

Becky pretends to be part of the Glee club to impress her new boyfriend. (Song: So Far Away)

Coach Beiste tells Sam (and Sue) that she has gender dysphoria which means her outsides don’t match her insides and she’s going to change herself into a man. Sue is human in this scene.

Kurt, and Rachel sing with Tina and Britt as backup. Santana steals the stage. (Song: You Learn/You’ve Got a Friend)

Overall: Puck was there to give awesome one-liners. Sam is there to move the Coach Bieste storyline along. Quinn is there to look beautiful, show off awesome dresses, and to sing one or two lines a song to show off her voice. The old Glee club was called back to help with ratings because of viewer complaints.

Glee Season 6 Ep 2 - Homecoming

Glee Season 6 Episode 2 - Homecoming

The episode starts with a Blaine voiceover and a cartoon sketch. Something about death, taxes, and Dalton Academy. He talks about being unable to get back into music when he and Kurt broke up. Until he started coaching the Warblers. They make a nod to how much hair gel Blaine uses. (It’s more than a dime size.)

BLAINE AND KAROFSKY ARE NOT A JOKE! REPEAT! BLAINE AND KAROFSKY ARE NOT A JOKE! They are actually dating and it wasn't a nightmare!

Blaine decides to not use hair gel. (Careful Blaine, your Darren is showing). He even stopped wearing bow ties. And people didn't recognize him.

A girl tells Blaine that she’s a new student at Dalton and wants to join the Warblers. Blaine’s life just got flipped upside down.

More sketched scenes.

Becky comes back to slushie Rachel. Kurt, Rachel, and Sam visit Will.

Blaine: a girl wants to join the Warblers!
Warbler court. This looks familiar. All the students are new faces.

Warbler 1 says something about sexual tension and never getting anything done.
Blaine: But aren’t most of you gay?
Resounding No! No! No!
Warbler 1: I have a girlfriend
Warbler 2: We all have girlfriends

Head Warbler suggests letting her try out first.

Rachel and Kurt argue about filing sheet music. Rachel finds someone with an amazing voice and goes into the guys locker room.

Mercedes, Brittany, Santana, Artie, Quinn, and Puck are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Where’s Tina and Mike?) Tina shows up late. Sam asks Mercedes if she’s still a virgin. (I think Quinn and Puck together?)

Back in the choir room. Artie practicing story boarding. (This explains the episode)

Cue bright and florescent colored clothes. (Song: Take On Me)

Intro to fat kid with headphones. Newest member? Name is Roderick.

Blaine meets up with the girl Warbler (Jane) on the stairs where he first met Kurt. Blaine tells Jane she has to audition first. Rachel helps her work on the audition.

Kurt goes to the locker room to recruit the gay football guy.

Jane auditions. (Song: Tightrope) Warblers help with backup. They love it and dance along with her. (It’s in the Warbler blood to join into any dance) Head Warbler commands everyone to stand down. They do not. She shakes hands with him. They all clap and pat shoulders.

Original Glee club goes to Tea Party Patriot Club to recruit members. They turn out to be bigots.
“Quinn once had sex with a Latina lesbian!”

The Warbler council voted against letting Jane join. Blaine offers to help her fight for her right to be there.

Holy Trinity sing Problem. (I squeal) They edited their voices so that the three of them all sound exactly the same. Santana doesn't have her unique voice anymore in this song. It’s nice to see Britt back to singing and dancing. (Song: Problem)

Kitty is still in the cheer leading. Twin cheerleaders want to try out together.

The Glee club gang up on Roderick in the library and tries to recruit him for Glee club.

Sue goes back to journaling. She wants to send someone into the Glee club as a pawn again. She writes down “gay kid”

Dayum he’s confident.

Roderick auditions (Song: Mustang Sally). Are you sure that this is his voice? It’s incredible!!!!!! Holy Trinity leaves the audience to go up on stage as his back up. How he doesn’t die in a puddle is beyond me. I would be on intimidated by the three of them.

Jane went to Rachel to try to join New Directions. Blaine bursts in angered and breaks their pact.

Twin cheerleaders say some weird things. Group hug. Homecoming bonfire. (Song: Home)
Fireworks. Blaine and Karofsky in the back of a pick-up truck sitting together. Sue mouths “fireworks??”

Kurt spots Blaine.

Preview for next week: Santana proposes to Brittany

Glee Season 6 Ep 1 - Loser like Me

Glee Season 6 Episode 1 – Loser Like Me

Rachel’s first song. CRINGE (Song: Uninvited)

How bad was the episode for it to get a 0 rating?

Her dads are getting divorced. This must be the worst day of her life.

BLAINE!!!! That’s all that matters. I’m glad the first person Rachel reached out for is him.

Klaine broke up?!?! NOOOOOOO! Blaine is the new coach of the Warblers

The teachers got ebola so Blaine can coach

They hold hands, he sings.(Song: Suddenly Seymour) “Seymour’s your…..” That pause made me thing my screen was broken “…mannnnn”

Sue’s voiceover. Next best thing of the show since they broke up Klaine. Raw kale, protein shakes, and body shaming. Oh and she transferred the whole Glee club away.

Kurt speed dating.

Warblers welcome Rachel with a song. I love Warblers. Synchronized dancing in matching outfits! Oh and they have Blaine’s blazer on display in the office! (Song: Sing)

Gay football guy calls someone homo. Sam is working as water boy

Sue has a convict as her secretary

Kurt is sitting in a restaurant waiting for a date and he flashes back to when he and Blaine broke up. Blaine shows up late, they have domestic disputes and have been unhappy for months. L I don’t think Blaine can survive without him
Blaine: I will never forget you for this

Will shows his dance moves off to his baby. Vocal Adrenaline has a song. Where is Jesse? Will basically sold out because he has a baby now. (Song: Dance the Night Away)

Intervention for Rachel. Sam, Blaine, Mr Scheu and Rachel’s dad watch a few minutes of That’s So Rachel. It was interesting. Rachel donates the money she got from the show to get a new glee club.

Kurt visits. 6 months ago, they were all supposed to show up in front of the apartment. No one else showed up. Kurt admits to screwing up with Blaine

Time for some girl talk. I thought my phone was ringing.

Kurt and Rachel move back to the choir room. Sue drops a protein shake and calls Kurt ‘porcelain’ again. (We know she loves him)

#SueSylvestersThunderDome

Rachel arranged a Klaine meet up. Awkward should-we-hug-or-kiss? Kurt blurts out he wants Blaine back. Blaine says he’s seeing someone and it’s……Dave Karofsky!! The guy who had terrorized Kurt for being gay in high school and then later discovered his own sexuality.

PLEASE LET THIS BE A JOKE. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE RIGHT?! I literally paused and screamed NOOOOO and got up and walked around.

UNACCEPTABLE! UNACCEPTABLE! UNACCEPTABLE!!

Some more “NOOOOOO”-ing from me as Kurt cries in a bathroom stall

Will visits Rachel in the old office. “I always thought Finn would take over this place”

Rachel sings Let it Go. (I had chills the first time I heard this song in the movie. Haha chills, pun.) Does this mean that Frozen is a thing in the Glee universe?

It’s kinda cool that Rachel can use the faculty lounge now. It’s come full circle in a way. Better way to end the episode than Kurt falling apart in the bathroom.

Parenthood Season 6 Ep 10 – How Did We Get Here?

Parenthood Season 6 Episode 10 – How Did We Get Here?

They chose to do the scene with Zeek and Camille getting into the ambulance with muted sound and no music.

And then the showed the children in their separate situations. Adam and Kristina in a brightly led bedroom being there for each other, Crosby frantically searching for the keys by himself but getting a hug from Jasmine, Sarah getting out of bed fully dressed with Hank not doing anything, and Julia lying in regret next to Joel and suddenly getting that message.

I pretty much broke down crying at the beginning

Adam comforting his mother in the hospital chapel

Amber goes to hospital. Drew runs to the car that he got but it doesn't turn on

Hank wakes up and calls Sarah to ask what he can bring because he wants to be there and to bring food for them. (Kinda like Luke when Lorelai was in the hospital for her dad)

Joel shows up with coffee for everything. So does Jasmine. None of the younger kids are in this scene. Hank has to pick up Drew and be in the car alone with him trying to make small talk.

The doctor tells them that Zeek is stable and they have him at a normal heartbeat but it’ll take a while to transfer him to the ICU.

Crosby and Adam go to the Luchenoette and see that it has been completely ransacked. All the musical instruments and recording equipment are gone and all the furniture have been flipped over.

Hank delivers Drew. Kristina delivers bagels.

Crosby is pissed about being robbed. “Why is this all happening?” “Grandma is going strong  at 93 and dad is in the ICU?”

The doctor tells him that they might have to perform surgery again but allows them to visit Zeek in the hospital. (I break down again when Camille says “Zeek? We’re all here”)

Nurse says to Julia and Joel: I’m sorry, it’s family members only
Julia: He’s my husband
Zeek crashes right when Julia gets there

Julia announces to her siblings that they just took Zeek to the operating room again. Everyone freaks out. Joel comes in calmly to tell them what happened. Hank looks on from the background looking helpless.

Hank goes to see Drew in the cafeteria and Drew is still upset about telling his grandma about the secret trip. Hank tells Drew that as a parent, they don’t hold on to moments like that. They bond, Hank drinks Drew’s soda.

Adam tells Crosby that the insurance payment is more than what he expected and maybe they can cash out and pay off their debts. They agree to think about it just as Camille comes in and tells them that the doctor put in stents and that he’s stable now.

Camille and all her children visit Zeek. They ask if he wants to rest, he asks them to stay.

We cut back to the hospital room and Crosby is telling a story about him sneaking in at night when he was young. Family bonding.

Doctor comes in to tell them that the fluids were going back into his heart and that’s what caused this. They eventually need to do the surgery but he’s not strong enough to guarantee to survive this one.

Crosby tells Jasmine about the insurance money and asks what to do. Crosby said he wants no stress for a while and Jasmine said she’ll support him no matter what but he’s happiest when he’s working there.

Drew sits down next to Hank and Hank starts ranting about what a perfect husband Joel is and just wishes to be there for his mom but he doesn't know how. Drew tells Hank that he’s the favorite out of the guy’s that Sarah’s “brought around”. And thanks Hank for “being around”

Adam is looking up stuff about Cardiomyopathy. Kristina tells him to turn it off and he thanks her for being there for him and for the family. He asks Kristina what he should do about stepping back from the Luncheonette. Kristina says they should let it go if that’s what he wants to do.

Hank and Sarah blather at each other about doing the right thing and the situation and how messy everything is. Sarah says “we should be vegetarians.” Hank says “we should get married.” Sarah smile but doesn't know what to respond. Hank: Is it a no? Sarah: Let’s talk later.

Farewell Season advertisement during the commercial break

Zeek talks about going back in time to have some more fun. Camille says that they’ll do it again. He doesn't know what to do about the operation, she wants to talk about it with the family. He says he doesn't want the kids involved and want it to just be “you and me.”

Amber and Drew enter. Drew still looking sad and guilty. He hugs him and says “I love you grandpa”

Hank and Joel grab a beer and talk about the blurt proposal. Sitting next to them is Adam and Crosby. Crosby: worst day ever. Adam: I've had worse. Crosby: Did you fall off a building or something? Adam: It was pretty bad.
Crosby tells Adam he doesn't want to drop out of the Luncheonette.

Sarah and the other women in the family have brought Amber’s baby shower to the hospital cafeteria. Camille is quietly looking at the family that she now has with all these women. They present Amber with a scrap book that they all took part in and wrote a tip for her. The rest is for blank to fill out things for the future baby

Prediction/theories for this season: It will end with Amber giving birth to a new baby boy that she names Zeek. And grandpa will pass away peacefully some time after all 4 generations of Bravermans are in the same room.
